Cairns Tropical Paradise Retreat

To make the most of the World Heritage locations and to enjoy Far Northern Queensland weather at its best, the Cairns Tropical Paradise Retreats are held in the Australian winter.

Participants are welcome to join from any location in Australia, overseas or even from Cairns if you would like to explore more of your own back yard.

We move around and you will be spending time in some of the best locations that Cairns and Far North Queensland has to offer. You could say, this is a Tropical Paradise Experience, but with a relaxing and nurturing retreat feel.

Dawn from Always You Yoga and Relaxation will be your guide and main yoga / meditation instructor throughout the retreat however guest teachers / presenters may also join in throughout the journey.

You will practice yoga, relaxation, and meditation every day (sometimes twice as day), either indoors or outdoors and in some pretty special locations.

Some yoga experience would be advantageous, but not essential. Dru yoga and meditations are gentle, and subtle enough for anyone who is new to yoga to join in and feel comfortable. We will be doing some walks and maybe even a little hiking.

We stay in world heritage rain forests, swim in clear river streams, walk scenic pathways on island national parks, stop for yoga and meditation on pristine beaches, disconnect and reconnect, share yoga in wide open spaces, all whilst we embrace movement and the changes of scenery. Some locations will take your breath away, others we will just sit quietly together and breathe.

From a scenic esplanade walk, snorkelling the reef just off the beach, train rides and sky rail, evening guided rain forest walk, to slow quiet times beside the pool, beach or mountain river, this experience / retreat will have it all... and then some!

I do look forward to sharing this incredible adventure with you again soon and I hope you will choose to join us from wherever you are on this planet.

WHY CAIRNS? - I moved to Cairns in 1990 and managed a holiday resort and tour desk whilst living at Trinity beach. It was here that I developed an affinity for all the places we will be experiencing. My very own yoga journey began around 1994 in Cairns and at one point, I was a volunteer for the Wet Tropics National Parks & Wildlife.

It's an area that I simply fell in love with for all its natural beauty and history. I look forward to showing you some of the best from a place that I once used to call home. I moved back to Adelaide in 1998 a profoundly changed person.

It was here in the rainforest, the islands, and the reef that I found my true loves in life... travel, photography, yoga and meditation. It was also here that I developed a passion for freedom and my desire to place my bare feet in our life giving prana rich mother earth at every opportunity.

There was a time when I was healing from a nasty, nasty virus where I used to go and sit in the rainforest on my own for hours, take off my shoes and just BE. It is an experience that has stayed with me for all this time, and I enjoy taking people to these special places to receive a delicious energetic top up.
